The F-15E is used both for air-to-ground missions with high weapons loads and as an interceptor, and also flies night and all-weather missions. It underwent its baptism of fire in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm in Iraq. Top speed without external loads is Mach 2.5 at high altitude.
